Ash challenges Brock to a battle, eager to prove himself as a Pokémon Trainer. However, Ash's inexperience becomes evident as he faces Brock's rock-hard Pokémon, Geodude. Pikachu puts up a valiant effort, but Geodude's sturdy defense is challenging to overcome.
During the battle, Ash's Pikachu becomes exhausted and unable to continue. It seems like Ash's hopes of earning his first Gym Badge are slipping away. However, Brock, impressed by Ash's determination and passion for Pokémon, decides to call off the battle and offers Ash advice on how to become a better Trainer.
Brock also reveals that he cannot leave his Gym unattended, as he is responsible for taking care of his younger siblings due to their absent parents. Ash and his friends, Misty and Pikachu, decide to help Brock out by taking care of his siblings while he joins them on their journey.
The episode ends with Ash, Misty, and Brock setting off on their adventures together, with the goal of becoming Pokémon Masters and learning valuable lessons about friendship and teamwork along the way.
