Desperate to save Pikachu, Ash rushes to the nearest Pokemon Center, where he meets a skilled Nurse Joy and her friendly Chansey. While Nurse Joy tends to Pikachu's injuries, Ash learns about the role of Pokemon Centers and how they care for injured Pokemon.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket, consisting of Jessie, James, and their talking Meowth, continue their quest to steal rare and powerful Pokémon. They target the Viridian City Pokemon Center, not realizing that Ash and Pikachu are inside. Team Rocket stages a fake emergency to divert the attention of the staff and visitors, enabling them to steal numerous Pokémon from the center.

As they depart, they remain unaware that Team Rocket will continue to be a persistent and mischievous presence on their journey.
